Rotarian of the Month: Tricia Johnson,
Rotary E Club Central Texas Treasurer and Roll of Fame 2020
Current Location – Austin, Texas
I was raised by my parents in northwest Houston, Texas. My parents met in Wichita Falls and moved to Houston before I was born. I earned my Natural Resource Management BS from Texas State University, Southwest Texas State when I attended, and earned my MBA while working full time in 2003.
I am an environmental scientist with more than 20 years of technical work experience and nearly 10 years of marketing experience. I am currently the Vice President of Marketing at INTERA Incorporated, where I have worked for 30 years next year. We are an employee company that was founded by Ron Lantz and Suresh Pahwa. I have always felt strongly that we need to use our world’s natural resources responsibly and practice conservation of the environment, and my job allows me to promote that through my work as well as in my personal life.
I joined Rotary in 2006 and have been a member and usual board member ever since. I began providing service with United by Friendship in approximately 2010, and have served as a board member for that organization since 2013. With UbF, I have traveled to Guatemala seven times on service trips to the Uspantan area, where we fund and manage water, health, and education projects to support and improve the lives of the mostly Mayan villages in the area.
I lived in New Mexico for 15 years and was married for nearly ten years. In addition to service work, my interests include traveling and learning about other cultures, wildlife and bird watching, hiking, yoga and fitness, and trying my hand at crafts like glass blowing and pottery.
Having traveled to more than 20 different countries around the world, I am a firm believer that travel provides much needed perspective for all people, especially those of us from the United States, who were born into a very abundant culture.
